FASD United (formerly NOFAS) has launched a new Family Navigator program to help people with FASD, their families, and their caregivers find “expert, confidential support and referrals.” The program, directed by Heather French, is intended for anyone and everyone in the wider FASD community who has questions about any facet of FASD or is in need of one-on-one emotional support, referrals to resources and services, and/or information on prenatal alcohol exposure.
Ms. French has professional experience working with families and a familiarity with FASD-informed resources. She is also familiar with strategies to help train people with FASD to become effective self-advocates. As FASD United Family Navigator, Ms. French will “work with you to locate the best available resources to meet your needs, and when appropriate will refer you to an FASD United affiliate or connect you with her colleague best informed to address your circumstances.”
